Beate Kubitz

Beate Kubitz’s water colours are a regular feature of Singletrack Magazine, illustrating the Classic Ride article. Her work sets riders in the landscape, from bleak rocky mountains to green lanes. She is a keen mountain biker herself and often documents her own rides to use for illustrations and private commissions.

Beate graduated in Philosophy from Cambridge University where she concentrated on aesthetics and exhibiting work in student art shows.

She lived in London from 1994 to 2002, working from a studio in Brick Lane and exhibiting at events in Shoreditch. She curated the Upstairs Gallery on Shoreditch High Street from 1999-2001. During this period her work in mixed media concentrated on the sky as a universal constant, the backdrop to all human experience.

Beate now lives in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire. She is a keen mountain biker and many of her pictures combine her love of riding with her eye for skyscapes.
